About

Update:

As of 12 Aug 2008 I’m working on recipes starting with “R”. This is gonna take awhile! lol

About My Collection of Recipes

I have a recipe collection of nearly 1000 recipes. I also have a Yahoo! Group titled In My Kitchen where a group of people share their recipes. Unfortunately, I haven’t had much time lately to keep up with the Group. I may eventually close it to new members, but open up the recipe database to the public viewer. I did at one time, have an entire website set up with all my recipes on it, but it was getting too costly to keep it running without donations, so I decided to close the site put them on a free site.

Over the next few weeks/months, I will be posting recipes from my collection and from the Group on this blog site. I think this way is a great way to share them all again, without a lot of cost to myself.

Hope you enjoy the recipes! And if you have any questions or comments, please let me know. Thanks!

About The Recipe Rating System

As you may notice, nearly all of these recipes are simple enough for even the most novice cook to try out. I use a number rating system for all the recipes, with “1” being the easiest, and “4” being the most difficult. I don’t think there are any rated beyond a “4+” Most people who have been cooking for any length of time will notice that even the higher rated recipes really aren’t that difficult. I wanted to keep the recipes fairly simple and quick, for the average home-cook, who usually doesn’t have a lot of time on their hands!

Searching the Recipes

You would think that a search of the recipes would be very simple. Well, it is… and it isn’t. There are some “glitches”. For instance, if you were looking for a recipe using ham (ex. baked ham, roast ham, ham steaks, etc.) and you only typed “ham” in the search box, you would come up with things like this:

    graHAM cracker
    HAMburger
    cHAMpagne

as well as “ham” itself. Instead, you might try typing in “pork”, which would limit your search to meat dishes. Unfortunately, it would also include ALL pork dishes, including those with pork sausage, pork roast, pork chops, etc. Another alternative is to type in more information in the search bar, such as “baked ham” or “roast ham”. This would limit your search a bit more.

There seems to be nothing I can do to change this to reduce the number of “bad” search results. I apologize for this.

NOTES:

  • Recipes are rated for difficulty using a five-point scale. Easiest recipes are rated 1 and most difficult recipes or recipes with many steps are rated 5.
  • My personal ID’s on the group: (for identifying my personal recipes)
    • yahudi
    • yahudi1
    • yahudi2
    • inmykitchen1
    • inmykitchen2
  • If there is a ID name listed as the source, then that ID is associated with a member of the In My Kitchen group on Yahoo! Groups.

  1. Susie-
Thank you so much for putting all these recipes up! I’m looking forward to trying some of these out, the desserts in particular look great! I’m always looking for food to try out and it’s not often I stumble across collections like yours with everything organized and well-explained. It’s amazing that you’ve collected this many recipes and really good of you to add them all so the rest of us can try them out. Thanks so much!

  2. Thanks for adding me to your blog roll. I have several people to add to mine and I will do the same for you. It is wonderful the people me meet in the “blog world”. People I would never have met without the internet. May God bless.
